Both drivers are travelling at the same speed and are about to change lanes at the same time. The green car is merging from the acceleration lane into the main lane, while the red car is moving from the main lane into the deceleration lane. Which driver has priority?
Explanation
Normally, when vehicles travelling in the same direction change lanes at the same time, you must give way to the vehicle on the right. But this rule has an exception: a driver in the acceleration lane merging into the flow must always give way to vehicles travelling on the main road or merging into the deceleration lane.
KET reference: KET 104: [...] If vehicles travelling in the same direction change lanes together, the driver must give way to the vehicle on the right, except in the cases specified in clause 112. KET 112: where there is an acceleration lane for entering the road, the driver must use it and merge into the traffic flow (change into the adjacent lane), giving way to vehicles travelling in that lane or merging into the deceleration lane.
