Traffic order and driving through intersectionsQuestion #14749
In which case may a driver cross a double solid line?
Explanation
Although crossing a double solid line is forbidden, the rules make an exception for fixed obstacles (a broken-down car, a fallen tree, a crash) that cannot be passed any other way. You may do so only once you are sure it is safe.
KET reference: KET 117: Solid lines may be crossed in an exceptional case, when travel cannot continue in the same lane because of a fixed obstacle on the carriageway.
