Traffic order and driving through intersectionsQuestion #14875
When is reversing allowed at an intersection?
Explanation
The rules do not provide any case where reversing is allowed at an intersection. The manoeuvre is very dangerous here, because while reversing it is hard to watch vehicles and pedestrians coming from all sides and to give way safely. Reversing at an intersection is therefore forbidden.
KET reference: KET 114: before moving off, and when changing direction, changing lanes, overtaking, passing, turning, turning around, or reversing, the driver must give way to other road users if they might be obstructed.
